The dirty secret

By on September 8, 2013

Today we are cheating. We are sitting in a cafe drinking cafe con leche waiting for the bus. Michelle’s toe is one giant blister. Maybe even a blister on top of a blister. We felt guilty until we arrived at the bus terminal and found more than a few waiting as well. We are already a few days behind schedule and realize me will have to jump over some sections. So we my find 100 km’s along the way and ONLY walk 600 km this year.

The Camino is one of many walks I want to do eventually… is it really tough, or is it the pure length of it that tires one out?

We thought we had trained for it but it has been tough. Everyone we talk to says they have done other walks without blisters or pain like this. That being said I do recommend doing it even if just parts of it. May here do some each year as vacation allows. Since we are flying from Canada we are going to as much as we can this time but will come back for sure to do the part from St. John to Pamplona then visit the towns we enjoyed the most. You don’t get much time to be a “tourist” when your tired and your feet hurt. Buen Camino!
